A Petites Bouchees creation! 🙂 This issue mentions how a cupcake wedding cake can be a cost-effective yet a delicious (and beautiful) alternative to the traditional wedding cake.

Also in this issue, a couple whose wedding I made the above macaron favors for were also featured. The bride, Amy, was absolutely stunning in a gorgeous Monique Lhullier gown and as I found out upon reading the article she was also wearing a pair of limited edition Christian Louboutin shoes! The groom himself looked vey dapper in his dark suit.

Also Courtney Spencer, who writes the blog Little White Book – a fabulous resource for brides-to-be, is spotlighted in the Who Knew section. Courtney, who I met in this year’s Bridal show, started her own event planning business, Merriment, earlier this year.

Oh, the giveaway…

I shall be giving away a pack of 50 filigree  cupcake wrappers, your choice of chocolate brown or white. A sample of the chocolate brown is shown below.

Cupcake05

I need help determining how to pack my flavors for Broad Appetit. I will be packing macaron flavors in packs of two. The flavors will be chocolate with espresso buttercream, vanilla with vanilla buttercream, hazelnut with salted caramel, passion fruit milk chocolate ganache, pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache. The cupcakes will also be packaged in boxes of two. Flavors will be: chocolate-chocolate glaze, vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream, carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting and maybe red velvet cupcake.

So to enter the giveaway, if you were theoretically buying my macarons and cupcakes, what two flavors would you want to eat for macarons and cupcakes? And don’t say all ! 😉 I’m trying to see what percentage of folks who like chocolate, hates vanilla or vice-versa – and also see how popular passion fruit milk chocolate is.

Comments will be accepted until May 30th 2009. I will ship worldwide! The winner, picked by a random number generator, will be announced June 6th.

  1. Macaron: Honestly, the hazelnut and caramel, and whatever is packaged with it — the chocolate espresso would be the safe choice, but I'm really curious about the passion fruit milk chocolate, so that would also appeal.

    Cupcakes: Carrot cake and chocolate/chocolate

  2. Oh congrats! That's just exciting to get spotlighted that way!
As for flavors, macaron – pistachio-chocolate or chocolate-espresso, cupcake – carrot cake, all the way, followed quite distantly by chocolate 🙂

  3. Of course they featured your cupcakes!

The macarons I would choose are the hazelnut with salted caramel and the
passion fruit milk chocolate ganache. The cupcakes: chocolate-chocolate
glaze and vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream. Definitely not the red velvet.
Unless you make them with natural food coloring.

  4. Hi Veron!

    Very lovely work as always!

I'd go for passion fruit-milk chocolate and hazelnut-salted caramel for macarons. And as for cupcakes, I'd go for vanilla-vanilla rum buttercream and chocolate-chocolate glaze.

Do post the end products for this project soon yea? Looking forward to that!

  5. I love your creations , they are stunning. For the macarons flavour I would go for chocolate with espresso buttercream and hazelnut with salted caramel. The cupcakes I like chocolate-chocolate glaze, carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting.
They all sound delicious though 😉

  6. ohh, gorgeous! I would definitely want something fruity and exotic for macarons, so I vote passionfruit chocolate. As for cupcakes, at my theoretical wedding (actually crossing my fingers for an engagement soon..) I'd love the vanilla-vanilla rum.

  7. i love salted caramel, so i'd want the hazelnut with salted caramel and the pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache for the macarons. for the cupcakes, i'd go chocolate-chocolate and vanilla-vanilla!

  8. I vote for:
chocolate with espresso buttercream and chocolate with espresso buttercream
    as for the cupcakes:
vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream, and carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting

  9. Macarons: chocolate with espresso buttercream & pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache. (Since 2 chocolates might be overkill, I'd go with pistachio and hazelnut personally, even though that gets into 2 'nut' flavors). Cupcakes: chocolate-chocolate glaze & carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting!

I hardly ever wish I were back living in Charlottesville, but this makes me sad I'm now hundreds of miles away!

  10. I am sure whatever flavors you decide will be great. I will be calling you in a few weeks. My daughter is getting married next year and wants cupcakes and I told her I knew just the person we need to talk to!

  11. Macarons Id go definitely hazelnut and salted caramel and while I love passionfruit and chocolate, I'd say pistachio and ganache (I'm a sucker for the color of the green macarons) For cupcakes definitely vanilla/vanilla rum and chocolate. Can't go wrong there.

  12. Can you believe I never had a macarron?!! They're not common in my country but I guess I'd prefer chocolate as in cupcakes.

  13. congrats on the article!

picking flavors is super easy 🙂 for macarons, i would love to try hazelnut with salted caramel and passion fruit milk chocolate ganache ones because they're unique! and for cupcakes, i'll take vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream (because i don't always have rum in my pantry n it's nice to treat myself to something i can't bake) and carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (because i know how much work it is to grate carrots!)

  14. For the macarons I would choose the hazelnut with salted caramel and the passion fruit milk chocolate ganache.

For the cupcakes I would choose the chocolate with chocolate glaze and the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

  15. Great going! What a beautiful photo! For the macarons, I would pair the hazelnut with salted caramel and the chocolate with espresso buttercream. For the cupcakes, it would be carrot with cream chees frosting and chocolate-chocolate glaze. I am so drooling over my keyboard!

  16. MMMM, very pretty. If I was choosing it would also be the hazelnut macaron and the chocolate one. For the cupcakes it wouls be carrot cake and chocolate. I guess me and pjpink have a lot in common!

  17. macarons: i vote chocolate and hazelnut OR hazelnut and pistachio, depending on if you want to stay with flavors with broader appeal or go more gourmet. cupcakes, I vote chocolate and carrot cake. yum!

  18. Oh boy, get to make a fun choice ……..( actually I am really hungry which makes this hard! ) for macaron go with Hazelnut with salted caramel and passion fruit and cupcakes: carrot cake and chocolate.
Now pass one of of each , please!!

  19. I would pick hazelnut with salted caramel and pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache. The passion fruit milk chocolate ganache would be my next choice. For cupcakes, I would personally go for vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream and carrot cake, but I would think most people would like the vanilla/chocolate combo better.

  20. Tough choices, but of the flavors you've offered, I would go with…

Macaron: chocolate and espresso, vanilla and vanilla
    Cupcake: Chocolate, carrot

Although if it were up to me, I'd love to have salted caramel filling in either macaron instead.

Congrats on all the good publicity! You're on your way to the top. 🙂

  21. I would take ganche filled chocolate macaroons any time. For cupcakes chocolate hazelnut with creamy buttercream frosting. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

    Congratulations!

  22. My vote for macaroon is hazelnut with salted caramel, and passion fruit milk chocolate ganache, for the cupcake the Vanilla with rum frosting and carrot cake. YUUMMM

  23. The hazelnut with salted caramel and passion fruit milk chocolate ganache macarons sound amazing and chocolate-chocolate glaze and vanilla with vanlla rum buttercream are my vote for the cupcake portion.

  24. I love your hazelnut with salted caramel and pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache macarons, but the passion fruit milk chocolate ganache sound REALLY good too!

For cupcakes I like the chocolate-chocolate and carrot cake, and I do like red velvet too!

I'm bummed I'll be out of town at a wedding for Broad Appetite! I won't be able to dabble in whatever flavors you pick and the other amazing food! Congrats on the magazine feature! If only my boyfriend would pop the question… 😉

  25. Macarons: chocolate with espresso buttercream and hazelnut with salted caramel. Mmmh!!

    Cupcakes: chocolate-chocolate glaze

  26. Macaron Flavors: hazelnut with salted caramel and it's a toss-up between the pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache and the passion fruit milk chocolate ganache. I've never had a passion fruit macaron before, but I'm very curious to try.

Cupcake: Vanilla vanilla-rum and carrot cake!

    These flavors sound yummy!

  27. Yay! That's so exciting, Veronica. I'm so happy for you.

Here are my choices, but it wasn't easy!

Macarons: Espresso buttercream and hazlenut with salted caramel

cupcakes: chocolate-chocolate glaze and red velvet

  28. I'm a chocolate lover, so for the macarons, I will definitely go for chocolate with espresso buttercream. For the cupcakes….hm….. carrot with cream cheese seems exotic to try!

  29. Before anything — congratulations on your gorgeous cupcakes appearing in the wedding magazine! Well deserved indeed as they are truly fit for a beautiful bride 🙂

Secondly — Yay!!! I can finally join a contest! 🙂 So for the macarons, I would pick chocolate with espresso buttercream and hazelnut with salted caramel. For the cupcakes I would pick chocolate-chocolate glaze and vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream! Although of course, all sounds absolutely delicious!

  30. Hi,
    Cupcakes:chocolate-chocolate or red velvet.
Macarons:Chocolate-espresso buttercream and pistachio-bittersweet(I love milk chocolate but I am not a passion fruit fan and I would think that vanilla-vanilla buttercream macarons can be on the bland side)

  31. I would want all of them- but for the macaroons my top two would be the passion fruit milk chocolate ganache and the vanilla with vanilla buttercream. For the cupcakes I would definitely want the vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream and red velvet.

  32. Ooh yum!
For Macarons (mod): hazelnut with salted caramel, passion fruit milk chocolate ganache
For Cupcakes (trad): vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream, red velvet

  33. Congrats on the magazine shout-out!! I'd have to pick the passion fruit and the pistachio macarons; those both sound exotic and excellent! As for the cupcakes, I'm leaning toward the vanilla with the vanilla rum buttercream paired with the carrot cake; two excellent flavors!!

  34. I would choose the hazelnut with salted caramel & pistachio with bittersweet chocolate ganache macaroons, with the passion fruit milk chocolate ganache a close 3rd (but I'm more of a dark chocolate lover rather than milk chocolate. …of course if I could taste them, I might think otherwise! 😉

For the cupcakes, I love the color contrast between the chocolate-chocolate glaze and the red velvet if you can make the red velvet without artificial coloring, very passionate… beet juice coloring? Otherwise, classic vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream. I'm sure they are all delicious! What glaze or buttercream is on the red velvet, btw? They are all gorgeous! I love the photo, too! And the filigree cupcake wrappers are fabulous!

  35. Ive been to 2 parties and a wedding recently where people have had cupcake displays instaed of a big fancy cake and I am guessing the main reason is because of the tough economic times! Having said that I haven't heard anybody complaining about them either as dont know many people who dont like cupcakes!

  36. For the macarons, chocolate with espresso buttercream and hazelnut with caramel salted cream. As for cupcakes, chocolate-chocolate glaze and vanilla with vanilla rum buttercream. Yum!!!
